Although death brings sadness and grief, Catholics believe that it is not the end of life. Through our faith and Baptism, we share in the hope of eternal life with Christ in heaven. When a loved one dies, the parish priest should be contacted as soon as possible so that he can offer pastoral support to the family and help make the necessary arrangements for the funeral.

The Sacrament of Marriage celebrates the love and commitment shared by a couple as they begin their life together as husband and wife. In the Catholic Church, marriage is one of the seven sacraments, through which a couple freely exchange their vows and enter into a lifelong, faithful and loving union, strengthened by God’s grace.

Couples wishing to celebrate their marriage at St Matthew’s Church, Bishopbriggs, should normally ensure that at least one of them lives within the parish. A minimum of six months’ notice is requested to allow sufficient time for the necessary arrangements, marriage preparation and spiritual guidance. Couples are encouraged to contact Fr Alex to arrange an appointment and discuss their plans and preferred wedding date.

If you have someone sick at home or in hospital / care home wishing to receive communion, please contact Fr Alex.
